NYC TRIP-- Days 5, Feb 24th

The morning of our 5th day we started off taking the metro to Central Park. That place was HUGE. We only covered a short area but spent probably an hour and a half walking around. The one thing I wanted to see while there was the Alice in Wonderland statue. Turns out it is now my favorite! Cutest thing ever.

There was a marathon and half-marathon going on that day as well. That would have been fun to do with Rodney while we were there...maybe next time, if we ever come back and are in shape for it.

love these benches!

We were joking about how this reminded us of the ELF movie

friendly squirrel

all time favorite statue now. It is so cute!

For lunch Rodney and I got and shared a pizza pretzel and a pretzel hotdog. Worst food the whole trip! Pictured below is the 'pizza' pretzel. There was nothing inside it but a little marinara sauce. AND the hotdog was old and hard. YUCK!

Right next to one of the areas of central park that we were at was the Museum of Natural History. This is what the movie Night at the Museum is based from. We didn't pay for doing any extra things, they had a butterfly exhibit and an iMAX movie you could pay to watch. I'm glad we didn't because there was so much to do and see we ended up being there for 4 hrs.

I don't even want to think about how many people stuck their finger in this thing. I didn't.....

Look out!

There were many cultural exhibits.

Hey dum dum! Easter Island head from the movie Night at the Museum

Rodney took the two following pictures. They reminded him of his mission that he served for the LDS church in Guadalajara Mexico.

The Cape York Meteorite--weighs in at 34 tons. The Cape York Meteorite is so heavy that supports from the largest of the three pieces go straight down to the bedrock beneath the Museum. The massive meteorite comes from the center of a small asteroid that broke apart.

They had a huge gem exhibit. Rodney's grandpa collected multiple types of stones and I asked him which in the room reminded him most of his Grandpa and this is what he chose. Check out the photo bomb!

After finishing up at the museum it was really late. Here we are walking by the NYC library

The whole trip I wanted to just have a floppy NY style pizza. The pizza we had days before was great but it was gourmet and I just wanted cheese. We found a place on our way home, yay!

Rodney chose to get a gyro from a yummy vendor near our hotel. Unfortunately while he was eating this he chipped a tooth! Craziness. Luckily we have a friend who is a dentist and immediately Rodney texted him and scheduled an appt. to get his tooth fixed when we got home.

Also on the way home we stopped by a cupcake shop named Crumbs. It was delicious. We ended up spending the evening watching The Oscars and eating cupcakes :)
