Nov. 2nd-- Trip to the Zoo and National Air & Space Museum

The great thing about Washington DC is that the museums are free! The museums, the zoo....tons of stuff to tour with no money involved. We decided that the kids would probably most enjoy going to the zoo and national air & space museum.

While playing back at the house the kids wanted to dress up Aven as a pirate :) I think he likes the attention.

Before heading out for some fun activities the kids got to play together and then we packed up some sack lunches.

When we arrived at the zoo Christian was nice enough to give us a front row parking spot and couldn't find anymore available spots so he had to park far away. What a great brother right?! At the beginning of the zoo we found the perfect place for a photo op. I love this picture. So cute!

While at the zoo we ran into one of our good friends Pam that used to live in Richmond and Lexington with us! So random and fun that we saw her and got to meet her husband and baby!

Elephants are my favorite!

When we were arriving at the National Air and Space Museum we got THE BEST parking. We found 2 spots together right in front of the museum. Definitely a blessing.

At National Air & Space Museum they had a lot of fun hands on things including an area where you could make paper airplanes and test them out for flight. Xanders won!

 Cousins!

After a long day of touring the zoo and a museum we went out to a yummy local Vietnamese restaurant (Christian and his family used to live in Vietnam). We ordered soup all around called Pho (pronounced Fa). It is delicious. We also ordered some shrimp fried rice in case the girls weren't too keen on the soup.  What a fun ending to a great trip!

Huge hugs from Xander!

November the 3rd was a Sunday. We piled up into our car, said our goodbyes, went to church for Sacrament meeting and then headed back to KY. Thanks so much Christian and Jennie for the great time and awesome hospitality, we love you!
